IIAS Project Possum

At the International Institute for Astronautical Sciences (IIAS), through the Advanced PoSSUM Space Academy, I trained as a Citizen Scientist-Astronaut Trainee, engaging directly with the human realities of spaceflight. The program immersed me in upper-atmospheric research, bioastronautics, crewed mission operations, and science communication, combining classroom instruction with hands-on mission simulations.

Through hypoxia training, high-G space physiology, spacesuit operations, and crew resource management, I developed a grounded understanding of how human performance, systems design, and communication intersect in extreme environments shaping how I think about human-centred space systems and spaceflight as both a technical and embodied experience.
